Surprisingly, most burglaries are committed on rundown houses (often with untidy gardens) as burglars see them as an easy target. They know that these houses have poor security, and are likely to be occupied by vulnerable or elderly people, who are unable to take care of the properties themselves.
The Facelift Project aims to improve the appearance of these homes to reduce the chances of vulnerable individuals being targeted by criminals in the first place. In this way, elderly and vulnerable people are made, and feel, a lot safer in their own homes.
During each Facelift we also identify any other needs the individual has, such as internal security, fire safety, housing repairs, and flag them up to the relevant project or agency.
Victim Support Southwark has recently teamed up with Victim Support Bromley and now offers 'facelifts' to residents in both boroughs. All work is done free of charge.
If you think you, or someone you know, would benefit from having your home ‘facelifted’ contact us now.
We also need volunteers to help us do these ‘facelifts’. All work is carried out in teams of 3 to 7 people and includes general tidying, pruning, weeding, and repairing and repainting fences. All tools and materials are provided.
