Volunteering
The services provided by Victim Support Southwark (VSS) would not be
possible without the many volunteers who give up their time to help victims
cope with the distress caused by crime.
Volunteering can be rewarding and enjoyable. It can also give you valuable
work experience and help your job prospects.
Volunteers are welcome from all sections of the community but need to be
over 18. Full training is given and all out-of-pocket expenses are paid. The
volunteering opportunities at VSS are:
- Training as a volunteer visitor to provide emotional support and
practical help to victims of crime
- Training as a court-based volunteer in Tower Bridge Magistrates’ Court.
In this role, volunteers help victims, witnesses and their families and
friends before, during and after a trial
- Helping to ‘facelift’ the home
of a vulnerable or elderly person
- Providing counselling to victims of crime
- Become an office volunteer. We are always looking for people who want to
help with office administration, fundraising and publicity
- Becoming a trustee. We need enthusiastic individuals who can use their
skills and experiences to help guide the development of VSS
Or if you want a short-term volunteering role, you could get involved with
fundraising.
